By 2017, JavaScript will be the most in-demand language skill in application development (AD).

This was stated by Forrester Research earlier this year. It is no surprise that developers need to know JavaScript with the amount of focus on the web; however, it continues to be a surprise that it will be the most in-demand language.

Most developers already use JavaScript. On our network of sites, we asked about the programming languages that people use. There were 5% that stated that JavaScript was their primary programming language. While that number is small, more than ten times that many people stated they use JavaScript. It was actually 51% of our audience that uses JavaScript. This was the highest scoring language on our survey overshadowing the standard programming languages (java, PHP, C#) by more than 20%.

So this begs the question…. Do you know JavaScript? If not, you might want to add it to your arsenal of programming knowledge and tools!
