Microsoft announces yet another perk of having an MSDN Subscription. This week they announced that MSDN subscribers now get free a free one year access to the Windows App Store Developer program. This also applies to BizSpark members. So, if you have a Visual Studio Professional, Test Professional, Premium, or Ultimate MSDN subscription or a BizSpark subscription, go get your developer account!
Of course if you are going to get your Windows Store developer account, you’ll want to use it to build Windows Store Applications. Note that Windows Store Applications is the current name for what were called Metro apps.
If you do build an application, then another Microsoft announcement will be important to you. With the announcement of the free account, Microsoft also announced that they have extended into 82 more markets with the Windows App store, bringing a total of 120 markets.
With the Launch of Visual Studio 2012 today things are starting to heat up. You can get a copy of the Windows 8 RTM as well as the SDK and tool for building Windows 8 apps. There are even sample apps you can pull down. All the pieces are coming together. The big thing that is left is to actually build the apps. Do you have an idea? It seems like a good time to start.
