Former hacker advised Windows Phone 7 devices ship with a “Genuine Software” checker that displays an access screen to the Xbox Live Marketplace, Windows Live, and Zune from a smartphone device running a OS version that does not match up with your hardware key. And while there have been reports of people porting over Windows Phone 7 to the HTC HD2 and other people being able to make ROMs for the new smartphone OS, there appears to be another hurdle that could be very difficult to overcome.
