After 12 months of a cloud speed test, Microsoft’s Windows Azure has come out on top, ahead of Amazon EC2, Google App Engine, Rackspace and 12 other competitors. An application performance management vendor, Compuware, conducted the tests using its CloudSleuth testing tool.


After performing 515,000 tests for a year’s worth of data ranging from August 2010 to July 2011, Compuware released the results today. The Compuware test used 30 testing nodes which were located around the world, each of which tested the performance of the cloud services every 15 minutes.
