This week Microsoft will host an event that will focus on the unveiling of its Windows 8 app store. Initially announced in an August blog post that mentioned that a team was working on an “app store,” the Windows Store, as it came to be known, will allow developers to sells their apps anywhere that Windows itself is sold.

An IDC report recently predicted that “Windows 8 will be largely irrelevant to the users of traditional PCs, and we expect effectively no upgrade activity from Windows 7 to Windows 8 in that form factor.” Developers are eager to hear the details about the Windows Store, and are hoping that Windows 8 will make more of an impact than IDC has predicted.
