Big data came out in a big way in 2011, but in 2012, it’s about to grow like it’s on steroids! According to industry experts and venture capitalists, 2012 will become the year that Platform As A Service (PaaS)–and big data in particular–goes from the minor leagues to the big leagues.
Legacy players in the industry have been hurt by the number of SaaS cloud services on the market today, and as the CMO of Autonomy, Nicole Egan, put it bluntly, “But, at heart [current solutions] don’t understand what’s in the content, they [are] counting the number of times a word appears as a proxy for meaning. And they are limited to text where [Autonomy] does audio and video.”
