In an effort to speed up development and deployment of Windows-based websites Microsoft launched WebMatrix. With WebMatrix developers can now create and execute Web applications in an environment that is easy to install and use. Microsoft WebMatrix includes all of the components needed to build and run Windows-based websites and it also provides aids that help streamline the development process. Currently a beta 2, WebMatrix can be downloaded via the Microsoft Web Platform Installer at Microsoft’s website.
