Visual Studio LightSwitch 2011 Hits the Market

After working on Project KittyHawk for almost four years, Microsoft has shipped the final result, which is known as Visual Studio LightSwitch 2011. Some developers feel that LightSwitch is too basic to be very practical, while others believe it will speed up the development process.

There is a history of this type of thinking in regards to Microsoft developer releases. When Visual Basic was released in 1991, many developers considered it to be a prototyping tool at best, yet it developed into a full-fledged, well-respected development language and IDE. With LightSwitch, data is the key to everything, and it works in conjunction with SQL Server, SQL Azure and SharePoint.
