Microsoft has recently announced plans for a suite of SQL Server Development Tools (SSDT)–thus far codenamed “Juneau”–which will allow developers to work in a familiar Visual Studio environment for SQL Server. The package will include tools from Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, as well as some new elements.


Developers will be able to use Juneau to work online and offline, with integration with the Entity Framework, application and database development, SQLCLR as well as a new visual table designer tool. The applications built with Juneau can be deployed to SQL Azure, as well as any other version of SQL Server.
