Microsoft has finally begun to move in this direction prompting Google to do the same with their new Key Lime Pie and Android hybrid OS’s. However Apple on the other hand has decided to postpone moving in this direction, at least until the release of the iPad “Maxi” which will be more of a hybrid type device, leaving the iPad “Mini” as more of a touch-only tablet. As the game stands now, there are some advantages of touch keyboards over physical keyboards in that it is possible to deliver lighter and more compact devices, as well as the instant ability to change languages and update the symbols as needed, leaving a few negatives as well such as the lack of keyboard feedback, slower typing, and the obscene use of valuable screen estate.
