Secure Backup to Microsoft Azure Blob Storage for Azure developers

Gladinet, Inc. is a corporation located in the United States, founded in 2008 with the goal of turning the Internet into a virtual PC by integrating Cloud Services directly onto a PC desktop. The company believes that this approach is better than using a Web Browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox as a Cloud Client.

Gladinet Cloud Desktop is a byproduct of this view and takes the first step towards the goal of a virtual internet PC by implementing a ubiquitous Cloud Storage Client that integrates Cloud Storage with the Windows file system. This level of integration improves in usability when compared to a browser based client. Files from the cloud are accessed as if they were on a local disk or a mounted network file share.

To further enhance usability, Gladinet Cloud Desktop also creates file type associations between web applications and files, whether they are stored on a local disk or in the Cloud. Gladinet believes that the web is evolving beyond the browser and that full utilization of the power promised by the Web 3.0 movement, will require an integration between cloud services and the operating system.

With the introduction of AES 128-bit encryption for files backed up to Microsoft Azure, Gladinet has an answer for you: The system encrypts your files before saving them on the Microsoft Azure servers in their encrypted form. Cloud Desktop 2.0- provides a convenient interface to show which directories have been selected for encryption

Gladinet recognizes that one of the major concerns of cloud storage users is security. How can users be sure that hackers, service provider employees or anyone else can’t look at their files when they’re online? Until now, that was a nagging question with no good answer.

Cloud Desktop 2.0 is considerably more robust than the system’s earlier iterations, transferring terabytes of data with dozens of upload and download threads, maintaining transfer rates of up to four megabytes per second. To do so, the system uses mirrored folders to pre-cache files and utilizes Smart Bandwidth Control to allocate more bandwidth to the browser when it is in use; once the browser is idle, Cloud Desktop resumes normal transfer speeds.
