The Windows Phone 7 operating system won the top spot as OS of the Year for 2011, based on the purported strength of its Metro UI and easily customizable start screen. The OS is becoming well known for its tile-based appearance which greatly differs from previous versions of Windows.


The user interface (UI) was mentioned by several judges, who stated that it “It has the most potential, with a unique interface and a rapidly growing apps selection. It has a great a looking UI and doesn’t look like Android or iOS” and “Innovative interface, with more success to come.”
