Microsoft has this week announced updates to their SkyDrive API which includes support for third party apps. The company has struggled with the challenge of making their SkyDrive API popular with developers. SkyDrive has been in the shadows of other APIs with the same features, and programs such as Drop Box, and Box.net have made the SkyDrive API seem ordinary.
With the SkyDrive API not receiving the attention that was anticipated, Microsoft continued to enhance SkyDrive, and introduced the API system as a new intergrated feature for third party developers. Third party mobile apps are now able to share and upload images and multimedia essentials via SkyDrive through the use of the API.
