Microsoft Windows Phone 7 comes with some very strict design rules. If you want your phone to run on the new smartphone OS, then it must include a considerable camera on-board. A minimum of 5 megapixels and it must include video capture. And in typical Microsoft fashion, even if you do comply, you still can full advantage of the lenses, image sensors, video chat or augmented reality features that you might wish to include as well.
