In an effort to cut down on software piracy from rogue subscribers who sell or pass on their product keys to other people, Microsoft has made it illegal for MSDN and TechNet subscribers to continue, not only downloading, but simply using the software they downloaded under their subscription once that subscription has expired. Microsoft has already stiffened the restriction for subscribers by reducing the product keys a TechNet subscriber gets from ten per product down to just three and MSDN subscribers are now limited to only five product keys.
