Microsoft releases H.264 plug-in for Firefox

H.264 is a codec–technology to encode and decode video–that’s widely used in video cameras, Blu-ray players, online video streaming, and more. It’s built into Adobe Systems Flash Player browser plug-in, but most people don’t know or need to know it’s there. Mozilla hasn’t exactly kept silent on their disdain for the patent-encumbered video technology known as H.264, or Microsoft for that matter. And with Microsoft being such a fan of the H.264 technology it should be no surprise that they will provide their arch enemy with a plug-in that will allow Windows 7 users access to use it in whichever browser they prefer.
