To avoid consumer confusion, Microsoft made the decision to drop the RT brand because the company failed to create a distinguishable brand with the Windows RT line of tablets, over that from Microsoft’s Windows 8 Surface. Microsoft had originally chose the Windows RT brand as a way to promote the fact that the software giant had their own ARM-based tablet.
