While the official release date for Microsoft’s next-gen tablet hasn’t been announced, a price cut typically precedes a next generation release thus hinting at things to come for the Surface 2 and Pro 2, along with the Windows 8.1 OS. Some features of the new tablet have included new fingerprint sensing technology which allows the owner to instantly unlock the device without the need for additional security measures. In addition, it is rumored to that the new tablet will be powered by Intel’s new Haswell processors which would replace for power hungry predecessor while an updated display port may be able to drive an external monitor with resolutions up to 2560 x 1600.
