Microsoft LightSwitch Beta Gets Affirmative Nod From Tester

One of the first beta testers of Microsoft’s Visual Studio LightSwitch announced today that, based on his work with the tool so far, he believes it will change the way apps are written. As beta tester Mark Runge put it, “Anyone who has previously used Microsoft Excel, Access or even FoxPro can build applications. It replaces all departmental isolated solutions.”

Runge is the co-founder of a company that creates and sells merchandising software as a service (SaaS). He believes the tool will be very useful for non-programmers, going so far to say that “This is for people who are not paid to write code. It would be a very good thing for IT departments to support it because it takes care of those smaller requirements in the application backlog that departments need but IT doesn’t have the time to do.”
