This announcement appears to have made both Microsoft’s and Research in Motion’s ability to dominate, or plans to dominate the smartphone market just a little more questionable at best. For Samsung arriving late to the smartphone party dance-off give them a rather large disadvantage with an uphill battle to garnish even the most minuscule of shares from that market. With the mobile market maturing quickly, capturing shares will require a deep smartphone app base and an army of developers to continue pumping them out, Samsung has neither.
