Microsoft Faces Uphill Battle Even With Windows Phone 7

Figures released recently by comScore show that Microsoft is still on a downward trend when it comes to the smartphone market. Since Windows Phone 7 debuted last November, Microsoft’s smartphone saturation has dropped by 35 percent.

Android was the obvious winner in the market report, furthering its lead over the iPhone even after Apple added Verizon to the mix. Windows Phone 7 has around 26,000 apps–but consider that as late as March there were only 11,000 Windows Phone 7 apps, which is a good indication of the steady and quick growth of the market in the last four months. iOS still leads the pack with over 425,000 apps, and Android follows with over 200,000 apps.
