Codenamed “BLUE”, Microsoft will meet their proposed delivery date of Windows 8.1 to OEM’s this August. With no more previews or test builds scheduled, 8.1 reached Public Preview on June 26th during its build conference and will be Released To Manufacturing in late August and this, all according to plan and on schedule for free upgrade to all activated Windows users via the Windows Store. The release of Windows 8.1 ushers in a rapid delivery schedule with its Windows releases and instead of delivering a game changer with each release every two years, Microsoft has moved to a more moderate pace of delivering new releases at least every year.
