Docker, the containerized virtualization platform for running cloud apps will now be supported on Windows Server including the Microsoft Azure cloud. Docker depends on what’s called “containerization” features, currently which are embedded in the Linux kernel code to implement a lightweight vm, so porting it into a Windows environment is not exactly an obvious proposition to make. However that’s exactly what Microsoft stated they will do as they continue to work with the open source community in an effort to advance development of tools that already exist for bringing Docker support to Windows.
