Microsoft Announces the Release of Access Apps for Office 365

Microsoft Access has now reached the commercial-grade and is ready for production use. Office 365 Government users will need to wait as that version of the app is still considered in the preview stage. Access apps are considered supplementary Web applications which are hosted on SharePoint. The new app works within Microsoft’s Access relational database management system and are available to those individuals or organizations who have an active Office 365 Small Business, Midsize, Enterprise, or Education subscription. And since the Access apps are released for production, they can now be sold by developers. The general availability status of Access apps means that they now have the same service level agreement guarantees as Office 365 which has about a 99.9% uptime which rounds out to about only eight hours of downtime per year. Check out all the details here at Microsoft’s Office blog.
