Microsoft Announces the Releas of the Public Beta of Silverlight 5 Development Tool/Runtime

Mix 11 brought the announcement by Scott Guthrie, Corporate Vice President of .Net for Microsoft, that their cross-platform runtime would be morphing into something different. And with that, Silverlight developers cheered at the news. Silverlight 5 brings with it much support for HTML5 including such new features as, Reduced network latency by using a background threading, XAML parser improvements to speed-up start-up and runtime performance, Support for 64-bit operating systems and the ability to handle “trusted” features in Silverlight browser.
