NBC announced today that they have re-acquired full ownership of MSNBC.com, purchasing the remaining shares of the site from Microsoft.  Currently the new plan is to rebrand the site as NBCNews.com while continuing to provide news information to MSN.com, a Microsoft news portal. For the short term, MSNBC.com is going to mirror the NBCNews.com home page. The reported cost of this acquisition was $300 million US thus ending the 16 year partnership between Microsoft and Comcast’s NBCUniversal. Read the full story here.
