Many developers have recently had the opportunity to take a look at Microsoft’s Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview. Part of the discussion by developers after the release has been focused on the future of Metro style applications, which may not be suited for workstation applications.


While Metro is certainly an excellent transition, maybe even a new paradigm for Microsoft, it may not be accepted for more traditional office applications. The ease of use and efficiency of the mouse are just going to be hard to beat, and thus far, Metro isn’t having the best of luck when it comes to mouse support.
