Intel seems to have blurred the lines between partner and competitor and when your partner states that your new OS will not run software built for your old OS when using devices powered by your competitions processors, and without having a leg to stand on with that comment, it sort of causes doubts in the relationship. The comment also put Microsoft on the defensive and causing them to state that the new OS will run all of their old applications, all of their old files and there will be no issues.
