Sybase announced the newest version of its mobile database product, SQL Anywhere 12, designed for mission-critical applications running outside of traditional data center environments.

New features in version 12 include:

  • Auto-tuning and self-healing features that can scale up and out with little or no onsite IT support.
  • Support for iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, it has mobile server features to distribute data to an even larger number of remote workers.
  • Spatial capabilities in the mobile and server databases providing businesses with new ways of viewing database statistics.
