Last year a Windows Phone 7 unlocking tool was released by a group called ChevronWP7. Microsoft ask the creators to shut it down, but this week they announced a collaboration with the original team and a new project called Chevron WP7 Labs, which enables homebrew developers to jailbreak their Windows Phone 7 devices–for a small fee.
Many developers are already asking how much the “small fee” will be, and will the tool allow true root access, like the original version did. It’s nice to see Microsoft working with hackers, rather than fight a losing battle.
