A recent eWeek survey of a jobs index provided a glimpse into the world of programming. The fastest growing programming languages are Groovy, JavaScript and Ruby, but many of the good jobs are still going to Perl, Python, PHP, Java, C# and even old school languages such as Fortran and Cobol.
By using the millions of jobs which have been indexed by Simply Hired– job search engine–eWeek was able to derive the trend data which was used to show the percentage of jobs which have increased and decreased since 2009. The largest increase was made by Groovy programmers, with C# and Cobol coming in next.
