This week Microsoft, along with Esri and the EEA’s Eye on Earth service, joined together to create a cloud computing network that will enable Europeans to share data about the climate via the cloud. The Eye on Earth network, as it’s known, combines Microsoft Azure with Esri’s ArcGIS Online cloud service.

The chief environmental strategist at Microsoft, Rob Bernard, discussed the green cloud network, stating that “With the launch of the new Eye on Earth network, citizens, governments and scientists now have an easy-to-use, scalable platform for collecting, sharing and visualising the world’s critical environmental data.”
