Most developers have heard that Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 operating system (OS) will be, as far as the user interface goes, very similar to the Windows Phone 7 OS. Apple has already been locking down their market for years, but can Microsoft pull of the same sort of move?


Windows 8 appears to look like Windows 7 with a Windows Phone UI wrapper–and in fact, in a backwards compatibility demonstration shows Microsoft Office running on Windows 8, and the Windows 8 UI drops away to show the Windows 7 desktop.
