Many developers use APIs for the development of their website and mobile applications, but APIs aren't without their own share of problems. They need to be updated and managed like any other aspect of a website or business, and a new website, Layer 7, is an API portal designed to do just that.

The CEO of Layer 7, Scott Morrison, described the portal as a way for developers to keep up with the APIs they use, stating that "The API portal is about managing those developers and that new constituency that may be building new applications on top of those APIs."
