New Institute Aimed at Advancing Parallel Computing and High-Performance Computing Research and Education
Educators and researchers are about to receive the disciplines they've been waiting for to address the challenges facing science, engineers and students alike in the field of Parallel Computing. Parallel computing today provides the single most powerful and most efficient infrastructure designed for computing extremely complicated data crunching involved in areas such as MRI results in real-time, weather forecasting, disease prediction and genomic analysis. Parallel computing is a key design to modern computing using multicore processors and supercomputers with up to a million processing units.
The University of Illinois Coordinated Science Laboratory launches a new Institute to provide resources aimed at enabling breakthroughs in parallel computing.
