Passing params into subreport for record selection

Hi,

I'm trying to create a comprehensive report which contains multiple subreports which are not related to one another, however they must all use the same input dates for record selection.

I've tried using shared variables and I can pass the dates in okay, however I am not able to use them for record selection. I'm getting a "This variable cannot be used because it must be calculated later" error.

Is there another way around this or a better way of doing it?
