cannot install .net framework 3.0

Hello there,

I need .net 3.0 framework on my computer for college and to take an exam. Every single time I try to install it I get the same error:

An error has occurred during setup. Setup is removing all installed files.

I have tried to install the second version first and I still get the same error. I don't have the second version on the computer and I am still getting the same error.

I have tried to download it from different sites as well and I still get the same error.

I have Windows XP and Internet explorer 6.

When I got the error message I clicked on error logs and this is what it said:

I had the same problem and after searching the net and trying various 'solutions' I remembered something from my early computing days- clear the temp folder. It worked like a dream for me! Hope this helps.

My .NET Framework 3.0 installation failure was related to a currupt IIS metabase preventing the installation of Windows Communication Foundation which is installed as part of the .NET 3.0 installation. Since I no longer needed IIS on my workstation, I simply removed the IIS component from 'Add or Remove Programs' > 'Add/Remove Windows Components' > Internet information Services (IIS).

In addition to that, I had issues uninstalling IIS due to issues with locating files for MSN related components so I actually uninstalled MSN Explorer and Internet Games (MSN Gaming Zone) first since I have never used these Windows Components either.
Then I was able to uninstall IIS.
Then I was able to install .NET Framework 3.0.
Then I was able to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Outlook Integration.
Then the work day was over so I got no work done.
