Hello everyone,
First of all I'm new to software development, and will be very grateful for any help offered in response to my forthcoming questions...
I'm developing a business concept and need to build a prototype of the software I will be using.
My inputs are XML from various 3rd parties, which will be sent to me at random times (when a customer responds via mobile phone, a company I'm working with will receive the sms and forward the information to me in XML format over the internet or a tunnel (yes, same same, but anyway).
This information should be picked up by my service, processed immediately by some logic using parts of the received XML. Then XML needs to be sent back out to a bunch of other services, that could back to the company that provided the SMS service (e.g. for them to send out something to the customers phone) , or it could be to a java applet running on a typical handset, or an email (if we choose blackberry push email).
Now - this is where my experience comes short. I'd like to use GPL software throughout. I'm familiar with jboss and mysql from a sysadmin perspective, and I would like to understand if I can use jboss (or jbpm???) for what I'm trying to do. So that's my first question.
I would like to be able to use graphical tools to generate my processes. I really like MySQL workbench for example, not sure if something similar, conceptually, exists for process workflows... Can you kindly give me suggestions or advise please?
Apologies if I'm not getting this right at all, or if my terminology is wrong - bare with me, and help me please....
Many thanks
