Internet Explorer 8 distorts all my web pages

I had recently uploaded an asp.net website to my local server. Everything was working just fine until I downloaded and installed the InternetExplorer 8 'update' from Microsoft onto my Windows Vista Ultimate OS. Now, all of my aspx web pages are distorted in some strange wrap-around of the master page.

And then I found this, according to which the problem is in the ASP.NET menu control. This site offers a download fix. I'm not sure if the fix is for Visual Studio IDE or for the host server.

Any experience with Asp.Net controls and problems on IE8 ? There's quite a few problems described if you Google IE8.

dglienna. Thankyou for your response. The Validator is really helpful. My pages run just fine on browsers OTHER than IE8. Perhaps there will be a patch, because I have little doubt the problem lies with the browser failing to keep standard with other browsers with respect to the asp.net menu control.
