hi.
i have a external hardrive to store some pictures
and when i search the pictures by name
each time i need some picture the pc simple take hours to find something
all this because the speed is of 2mb/sec so i need some software to catalog
and creat some kind of db/cache of all pictures for when i search
i use the program and he display a small image and if i want use the real
picture them he will open the real foto with the path that was saved
into db of the program.
hope you can understand and i need.
any one know something like that?

Well, there are many photo softwares which will do this. However, 2MB/s is insanely slow. That's slower than flash media. You really should upgrade your external drive.

Why don't you try Google's Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/)?

More like the PC. Sounds like a USB 1.0 Port. Doesn't really matter about the speed of the drive, unless it's also the same. Then replace that as well

so far the drive work just fine :)
like picassa what others software exist? there is some keyword for search in the google something like image catalog?

Sounds like a USB 1.0 Port.
Even USB 1.0 has a transfer speed of 60MB/s. Either way, the real solution isn't just finding a photo software that caches thumbnails.
