Hi All,

I have a windows server 2008 with Sharepoint Server 2007 installed with all service packs etc.

I have a development machine with Vista Ultimate 32-bit and VS2008 with all service packs etc. On this machine I tried to install the 'sharepoint services 3.0 tools for visual studio extensions 1.2'. I received an install error saying that I needed sharepoint services 3.0 with SP1 installed first. I then downloaded this and attempted to install, but then received an error that I need to be running windows server 2003 for this installation to work.

Have I got it wrong??? I cant believe that the developer tools would have to reside on the same server as the sharepoint server??? which this seems to be implying (even though I'm using Server 2008 as my server).

That sounds about right. I upgraded to W2008 because I wanted to get HyperV when it came out. Now that it's available, I don't have the proper hardware.

I can't install Virtual PC on it, either.
