OMG, Where can I get the microsoft icons to use for free in my programs. I need toolbar icons, save, cut, copy, paste, and a lot more. I make a toolbar or data binding toolbar and they are not included in there.

you have them on your hard drive. they are installed along with visual studio.

Just a side note....

1) There are a vast number of ICON's in DLL's that are part of windows. These you can freely ACCESS, but can not include or distribute with your application.

2) There are many included with Visual Studio (or even just the SDK). These can be freely distributed as part of your application. They can not be "copied" to "Icon Libraries" for distribution. Additionally the distribution of these graphics can not be the primary purpose of your application.

Well I still can't find any icons for me to use in my program. When I used VB6 I they were automatically included in the toolbar control when you added it to a form.

C#

\That could desrcibe a few dozen environments, including multiple editions ranging from CS-2001,2003,2005,2008,2010 [that is 15 alone, note even counting multiple service pack levels per edition] + implementations such as Mono.

after searching through my hard drive, I didn't find any of the icons. I know there were part of the installation in previous versions of VS, but maybe it was stopped with VS 2005?

at any rate, wikimedia has a lot of images that are freely available.

Additionally is you have applied Service Packs to any of the above (and alomost all of them have more than one SP level), then additional locations may be available.

Now since you are using ONE of the above (or something else), WHY should anyone spend the time researching and posting ALL of the DIFFERENT answers when you answering a SIMPLE question would suffice.

Can you please post the locations again. It looks like they got corrupted, the ends are cut off.

Now that was too much irritatedness for one guy . . .

However my suggestions include that you create your own or use some other ones that are not normally used by people.

So you expect me to look up each of the locations in the documentation, and post all of them, instead of you simly looking to see the version you are using, and asking me to provide the answer for the one case that would actually help????

considering his responses here (http://www.codeguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=465375)....I would expect no less from him.

On my machine, it is installed here: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\VS2008ImageLibrary\1033\VS2008ImageLibrary.zip. This should be sufficient to navigate you where it could be on you machine, because the location will very probably be analogous.

Just a note, with the Express Editions, the icons aren't included

I guess Brad edited his post(s). I think I would have rated that one if I could have!

How hard is it to look at HELP in VS to see the version & SP?

Then the help for your OS to see the same.

I have Vista Ultimate 64bit with 4gb of RAM running VS2008 w/ SP1.

Pretty hard? I didn't even have to look it up.
