Does everyone realize that last night was the LAST scheduled nighttime take-off from NASA @ Cape Kennedy. The facility is scheduled to be closed, and I frear it fortells the end of a meaningful US commitment to space explorartion....

Interesting...where did you hear that? I must have missed something. NASA has plenty more launches scheduled (http://www.nasa.gov/missions/highlights/schedule.html) from Kennedy Space Center. I love following each mission on NASA TV...it's a personal hobby of mine.

Again, the key word "Nighttime" is important. The first I heard of it was from two people (who do not know each other) who live on the Cape. Then it was picked up by local papers (in Fla). I have been trying to get confirmation from a "source".....

With the whole calculation of launch windows, I doubt this is a true rumor.

EDIT: I found some of those articles. The key phrase is "this year." Kennedy Space center is far from closing.
