Hi all, first post

I'm interested in breaking into coding (currently work in tech support) but really don't know where to start... I've done a little bit of vb6 (in school) but nothing really since. Should I be self-teaching something like .net and just trying to get an entry level job, or take a course or something?

I notice that a lot of job requirements state several technologies as requirements eg "should have exp in .net, java, html" etc.

Is it possible to get a job with knowledge of a single language?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Download one of the free versions of Visual Studio 2008 (take your pick of languages), and see what you can figure out, between memory, the web, and some reference books.

You'll need some current technologies if you want to survive in the future.

If you haven't been motivated to learn programming since the vb6 in school, I would suggest taking a class (or classes).
