Numerous and very dependent on what company/situation you are in.
The most common and obvious ones:
Set up and administration of the servers, back up plans, testing back up, double checking back up and all those things, provide access to the resource, optimize the set up etc
DBA is generally just used as a job-title and as such can cover pretty much anything having to do with databases, including query optimizing and network tasks.
