Introduction:
We are a small young and innovative London based group looking to create a prototype for a slightly unusual web 2.0 application mixing elements of popular web based games and social networking. We are currently looking for people with an interest in web development and game design who want to help us build the prototype as freelancers. This is intended to be a face to face project taking place primarily in London over the next two months; we want to keep the team small and manageable and have some basic compensation on offer depending on applicant circumstances.

We see this project as an opportunity for talented and creative developers to take a flexible part in a project in its earliest stage. In the worst case it could be an opportunity to meet like minded developers and further one's own CV. In the best case it could be the beginning of a fascinating and challenging project reaching many users, which you would have the satisfaction of knowing you were an intimate part of from the very beginning.

We are in the process of establishing a legal entity (LTD company) and all developers will be offered a contract setting out the terms of their involvement to our mutual satisfaction. If interested and in the Greater London area please email your CV and contact details, including e-mail address and a phone number, to us as we wish to meet our applicants face to face. (See below for compensation details)

Talent needed:

We are looking for two people with the following skill sets

1)Server side web programmer with significant experience in a server side language and database programming, php preffered. We are looking for a practically minded person with an understanding of how to integrate various technologies (eg. Ajax) to put together a web application. This person may later take on a lead programmer role should we decide to expand our team. Initially you would be responsible for helping our artists and designers create a semi-functional prototype for our application to help us promote our idea. You would also have significant input in the design/functionality of our project. The project is not as it stands, technically challenging, but there is plenty of room for innovation.

2)Another artist who can help us define the artistic style of our application/interface. Experience with flash/prior basic web design experience preferred. You would have the opportunity to define the look and feel of our project as well as contribute to the design.

Compensation:
A small amount of compensation is available depending on applicant circumstances. Travel allowances will be made for moving around within London. We have set aside some of our own money to help take this project forward, in order to further demonstrate that we are serious about our project.

Technology:
Web 2.0 application utilizing server side languages such as php/asp. However, the technology used in our prototype project does not need necessarily to be the same as our final application.

Team structure:
Currently a two man team consisting of the following:

Web programmer/application designer
A programmer with experience in a variety of languages including php.

Application designer and Business advisor

We hope to create an enjoyable face to face working environment with a very small team with flexible roles that could perhaps serve as the core management of a larger team.

Contacts:
Please email CVs to the email address attached to this account

All Feedback:

Thank you for your time.

It occurs to me that prospective applicants are probably wondering what differentiates this from every other web 2.0 startup out there.

Why are we different?

1)We aren't attempting to compete in any fashion with any of the now ubiquitous social networking applications and ideas out there, we are looking to explore something entirely new.

2)Our project requires no major technical innovation whatsoever, we have restricted our concept to what can be achieved by a small team that does not consist of cutting edge experts in web development.

3)Simplicity, scalability and distribution are our biggest design virtues, in our experience the three areas all the startups we have studied have failed at most.

4) we may provide developers in london with cookies, possibly tracking cookies.

So if you're in the London area and you want to take part in a compensated for innovative project with it's feet firmly on the ground please don't hesitate to email us to ask for more information.

Thanks again for your time,
