Develop application sending email and sms

Hi, if i would like to build an application with sending email and sms. How to start to develop this? Previous, i never develop before...
Can anyone provide me step by step info?

what does that mean? I recently wrote a service that behaves like a mail server, takes an "email" converts it to an SMS and sends it anywhere in the world for a charge of 2 cents.. That what youre on about?
