Not in a terrible way.

Last night I purchased a web site through network solutions the domain name is www.rickydo.com and I chose the option to have it hosted on a windows based system. I want to use it as a personal resume/e-folio site to showcase and document my work progress through school. My major is software development using the .net framework. So today I thought of the domain www.rickycodes.net (not active)

I also think I want a unix based system because the windows doesnt allow me to modify permissions and I cannot use their blogging system with windows.

any advise before I call them and see what we can do.

You'll probably want the Windows based server available when you're studying ASP.Net. You can develop pages on a Windows Pro machine, and use Visual Studio 200x Express to develop pages, and view them with IIS before you upload them.

You can also do Silverlight on Windows servers.

I'm sure that they could switch you to unix based, as I did the reverse at another host last year.

You could also buy the second domain name, and have a unix site immediately.

Don't you mean Linux hosting?

Anyway, most hosting companies will let you change plans, but not for a month after the purchase date. Either way, there are many blogging softwares for PHP and many for ASP.NET. Why can't you just use an ASP.NET blogging package?

this is the exact reason I went with a Windows server

I just left it alone and will only change it if it really needs to be changed
