9 MONTH CONTRACT(initial term) - DAYS 8-5

One of the most cutting edge electronics companies in the industry is seeking Mobile Systems Researcher for a 9 month contract position. Our client is seeking a strong individual contributor to join our pioneering team in developing new wireless protocols and technologies for future mobile systems

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Mobile Systems Researcher:

• Development of novel concepts and technologies that require in-depth understanding of communications systems, especially MAC and Layers 2-4 and detailed design with supporting analysis.
• Ability to critique proposed standards submissions for technical merit
• Ability to prepare, present and successfully promote standards submissions to bodies such as 3GPP.
• Development of high-value intellectual property and patent applications
• Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment
• Some domestic and international travel required. Must be able to work extended hours. Must be able to sit at desk for extended periods of time. Must have command of English language adequate to communicate technical information
Other duties:
• Interact with office in Japan and academic bodies as needed
• Monitor related developments in standards, academia and industry and report on major implications

Requirements:

Required Skills for this position include the following:
1. At least Masters (PhD preferred) in a related field, with outstanding R&D credentials along with the following:
a. Strong research background in wireless networking, with emphasis on protocols
b. Solid understanding of MAC protocols, Link Layer, TCP/IP, QoS and cross layer design
c. Ability to synthesize new patentable concepts
d. Motivated and flexible self starter with strong demonstrated communications skills



These skills would be a plus:

• Familiarity/experience of one or more of the following is desirable: HSDPA; HUSPA; OFDM; MIMO
• Simulation development for verification and optimization of designs
• Strong coding and simulation experience using NS2, C++
• 3GPP standards and activities; WLAN; WiMax; cellular extensions to NS2 such as EURANE; cognitive radio systems; SDR
