We are finally moving away from PVCS plus the myriad of bugs that it has (the about says 97 but I guess the underlying code is older than that) and moving to Team Foundation Server.

Team Foundation Server is due to arrive in the next few days (I have the Order Request pinned up), so I am trying to get everything in order when it arrives. One of the problems is that there isn't any tools (I could find) to convert PVCS to TFS. So I looked at a different route of migrating everything to Subversion before moving onto TFS.

Now there is a free tool to migrate from PVCS to SVN and from SVN to TFS, but the tool from SVN to TFS (http://www.componentsoftware.com/Products/Converter/Purchase.htm) only does 500 files before you have to pay a steep $1000 cost to get the rest of the files (we are on 750 files for our main app).

I was wondering if anyone else has done the SVN->TFS route and what did they use to migrate project history (if at all). $1000 is a bit steep for something we are only going to do the once.

Can you reuse the SQL Server 2005 installation that comes with for your own projects?

We license our products with a key and I was thinking that instead of the Access database that it is currently in (and the eon it takes to open) I can move it into SQL Server, and create a nice web front end instead of having the open Access to do it.

Thanks, Graham.

Why don't you read the EULA? It is located...

%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\EULA\ or %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\EULA\

Because it hasn't arrived yet? I mentioned in my other post that the TFS is ordered. However I have other things to prepare for the arrival. I would like to know in advance if I could use MSSQL to store other stuff related to the project but isn't exactly part of the TS process.

Better to know in advance than to get it installed to find we need to fork out another bunch of bucks and lose a week.

I mentioned in my other post that the TFS is ordered.
So that accounts for the confusion. When you have something this closely related, add to the previous thread.
